Schedule an educator in-service at The Field Museum! Meet with Museum educators to learn the ins and outs of planning successful school group visits and find out how the Museum's resources can support your curriculum.
What is an educator in-service?
Educator In-services are professional development sessions arranged by The Field Museum's Education Department designed to inform and prepare educators to effectively use museum resources to enhance student learning. We offer two types of educator in-services:
- Introduction to Harris Educational Loan Center (45 min.)

- General Educator In-service (3 hours)
Includes:
- Free Basic Admission to The Field Museum
- Field Museum resource packets for participants
- Introduction to Museum's resources for educators
- Introduction to Harris Educational Loan Center
- Hands-on activities and reflective discussions that meet specific goals outlined in your In-service Request Form
Who can schedule an in-service?
Any university teacher education class, professional education organization, preK-12 school staff, or other group of educators seeking professional development related to the effective use of Museum resources.
How much does an in-service cost?
In-service fees vary depending upon the type of in-service requested and number of participants. Partner schools (Field Ambassador, HSTP, Ward 2, MAPS) receive a discount on educator in-services. Please contact Jessica Hankey for more information educators@fieldmuseum.org.

Educator in-services for groups larger than 100 are not offered by the Museum’s Education Department. However, you may reserve meeting space for 100+ groups through our Group Sales Department.
When and how do you schedule an In-service?
Group leaders must complete the Educator In-service at The Field Museum Request Form and fax to Jessica Hankey at 312-665-7401 at least one month prior to requested in-service date.

Please note that scheduling of in-services is contingent upon staff and space availability.
Once your request form has been received, a Field Museum staff member will contact you to confirm the in-service. If you have additional questions, please call Jessica Hankey at 312-665-7536 or email educators@fieldmuseum.org.
When and how do you pay for an in-service?
We accept payment by check and credit card. Payment MUST be received at least two weeks prior to the program date. If we do not receive payment by that time, your in-service may be cancelled.
Can we arrange catering?
Yes. The group must pay complete catering costs plus a 15% service fee. Please note any catering interests on your request form.
Can we visit a temporary exhibition?
Yes, however the costs outlined above do not include temporary exhibition admission. For temporary exhibition ticket availability and pricing, contact Jessica Hankey at educators@fieldmuseum.org. Also, be sure to include this interest on your request form.
